I went to see the movie again, and that is apparently not my problem. Because I feel the same way now as I did after I saw it the first time. So I really don't know what my problem is, nor do I care.

I went to my Christmas party for work tonight. I was there, but I really wasn't. Or I didn't want to be. I don't know where my Christmas spirit has gone, but I need to find it. You're all lucky I sent out presents early, or you may never have gotten them.

I saw Return of the King. The first show, yesterday. No, there are no spoilers here.

So I sat there and watched it. And I took my kleenex because I expected to be crying. And I know it was sad. The characters were crying, and the audience was crying, and I just sat there. And after it was over, I felt.....nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I still feel nothing. Not just regarding the movie. I don't feel anything at all. I went to a Christmas party today. The other people were telling jokes and laughing and having fun. I just sat there and stared. It's like I wasn't really there. I know that's wrong. I went shopping, but I didn't buy anything. I just wandered around the store and looked. I don't do that. I was going to watch Pirates of the Caribbean with my brother, but I ended up sitting on my bed and staring at the wall. I love that movie, but I just didn't feel like watching it. I don't feel like doing anything. It's Christmas. Then I'm going to Disney World and then it's my birthday.....and I don't care.

Logically, I know that there's something wrong with me. And that I shouldn't be acting like this. But I don't care. I'm not even worried that I don't feel anything. Someone please fix me.

We watched A VeggieTales Christmas at Sunday School today! The kids actually sat there and quietly watched the whole thing. I was proud. And when they left, I got a Christmas hug from Stephen and a "Mewwy Cwismas!" from Thomas. That's how he talks, it's cute.

In other, much more exciting news, Elijah Wood hosted Saturday Night Live yesterday. I watched. It was fantastic. I was proud.

I'm so ready for the movie on Wednesday. I have three different people standing in line to get me tickets, so I should be there opening night. I've polished my one ring to wear, and my Merry and Pippin action figures are coming with me in my purse. Sadly, that's all true. Oh, and I'm bringing kleenex, because I know the story. I know what happens. I am the spoiler whore. I've seen some parts of it already. It's going to be very sad. Bring your own kleenex when you go. I've also taken off from work on Thursday and Friday to recover and/or see it more times. Obsession? Yes, of course. My fandom kisses in public.

Happy Birthday Zach! *debates calling you something else, but decides not to* I love you!

So today, after my watercolor final, Ms. Murray (yes, our teacher), Charlotte, Elizabeth, and I went to one of the local hangouts for some drinks. Well, they had drinks. I did not partake. But anyway, we discussed various things. And then, guess who showed up? Mr. Barnett the sculpture teacher and Mr. Park the photography teacher. They talked to us, and Mr. Barnett even patted me on the back and said something like "Hey! Good to see you! How are you?" It was odd, but in a good way.

I completely left out part of my weekend with Julie. After the amusement park, but before we got the movies at my house, we went to the Cannister's house. Mr. and Mrs. Cannister used to decorate their yard for Christmas every year. Lights, snowmen, trains, candy canes, you name it, the yard was covered. Mr. Cannister even dressed up as Santa and sat in a life-size sleigh. Well, he died a few years ago, but the family put up all the lights and stuff this year. So we went. It's like revisiting your childhood. It was family tradition to go there. Julie and I saw these two light-up snowman and snowwoman wood sculpture things. And, I swear to you, I have a picture of my cousin and I standing in front of those exact two snowmen when we were barely two years old. That place is magic.

I've been following all the Lord of the Rings premiere stuff that was yesterday. A grand time was had by all. Speaking of which, I'm reminded of another event of my weekend. Julie and I had just finished with Fellowship of the Ring and were getting in bed. I don't remember why, but she said "My precioussssss" for some reason. And I said "Okay, Mr. Frodo. It's definitely bedtime." And, I kid you not, she looked over at me and said "Oh, I love you, Sam." I almost died. And she doesn't even hang out with the fandoms like I do! She has no idea....My Fandom Brings the Partridge!

So let's start with the family reunion. Apparently no other members of my family wanted to go, so I drove my grandmother there all by myself. With the cake and the macaroni and cheese and the tea and her walker thing, and her. I managed to help her get up the stairs and into the house, then I headed outside to check on how the men were doing. They were just fine, already measuring the grease for the fish. It's an exact science, you know. After realizing that I was not helping and that I was getting cold (it was 50 degrees! hooray!), I went back inside. While there, I found Richard (I'm not sure how I'm related to him, really, but I am). Richard had a new laptop and scanner and was trying to make copies of old pictures. He wasn't really sure how it was supposed to work. I volunteered my services. I was not allowed to get up from that spot until dinner was ready. And, after dinner, *more* people wanted pictures.

But on to the dinner part. Last year, I didn't really care what I ate, because I was sick and I couldn't taste it anyway. This year, I had catfish, cheese grits, sweet potato french fries, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, and cole slaw. All homemade, of course. For dessert, I had ten-layer pineapple cake and some pecan pie. And all was good with the world.

After that, I had to go take my mom's car to the high school so that she could drive home when the band got back from New York. My brother was supposed to come and bring me home, but he forgot about me and he wouldn't answer his cell phone. So I called Julie and she rescued me. The car safely in the parking lot, we headed off to the local amusement park. Again, it was cold. But we rode the rollercoasters anyway. We rode the really big wooden one twice in a row because there was no line. And we rode the ferris wheel. And we had dinner at Willy's Cafe. Then we went on the little nature trail thing and looked at the poor animals that were freezing.

I thought that I'd go home after the adventure at the amusement park, but no. We went to my house and got my stuff so that I could sleep over. At Julie's house, we watched the Extended Edition of Fellowship of the Ring. When we got up this morning, we watched the Extended Edition of the Two Towers (because she'd never seen it). It was a wonderful time.

I came home and typed up three art history papers that are due this week. They were already written, I just had to type them. But, alas, when it was time to print, my printer was broken. We had a glorious fight to the death, which it won. I surrendered and went back to Julie's house to use her printer.

My papers safely in hand, I took my brother back his cat. Marc told me about New York. The band, if you saw them on TV, were right behind that Harvey guy who dressed up like a woman and sang a song. And right before Jimmy Newtron. They got to meet Hillary Duff, Aaron Carter, and Mya. Oh, and Marc got to shake hands with and talk to Jeff Corwin, that other crocodile guy. Apparently they had a grand time and he bought me a keychain.

First of all, Happy Birthday Tina! *hugs*

Tomorrow is the annual family reunion at Uncle Calvin's. And I'm not sick this year! I can taste all the food! *parties*

Christmas layout! Hooray! For whatever reason, it makes me very happy.

If anyone is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow, look towards the end for the Lowndes High School Georgia Bridgemen. They're a marching band from my high school. Mr. Todd, the director, was my band teacher. My brother is in the parade. He plays the tuba, but I couldn't tell you which one. And my Mommy is there, because she's one of the band nurses. *sets VCR to record*

I went to a sexual abuse prevention class at church last week. It lasted for four hours. The Catholic Church has a new policy that all volunteers, teachers, anyone at all, who works with children has to attend the class and have a criminal background check. Very smart of them. Father Marv, one of our priests was there, too. He has to take the class just like everyone else. After the video, the leader asked for opinions. Father Marv was "very enlightened." We also learned to teach children not to get in bed with Michael Jackson. Ahem. It was funnier at the time.

So anyway, I went to the police station to drop off my form for the background check, and the lady was very mean to me. She told me that my form was wrong and there was no way she was going to accept it. When I told her that my church gave it to me and it was the only one I had, she kept fussing. I had to wait for her to find me another form to fill out. It was *exactly* the same as the one I had, except it didn't say St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church across the top. Grrr...

I went shopping yesterday afternoon and got the following things: The Two Towers Extended Edition DVD, the new Josh Groban CD, new winter dress shoes (aka "not sandals"), Bath and Body Works Coconut-Lime lotion, a Return of the King puzzle book, the Return of the King Photo Guide (have you *seen* the pictures of Merry and Pippin? *dies*). And then I went home and watched the new scenes, which are wonderful. The Boromir/Faramir/Denethor one really should have been in the movie. And then I listened to the cast commentary. It wasn't as good as the last one, in my opinion, because the Hobbits were all split up. But it was funny that Elijah, Sean, and Andy kept trying to talk at the same time and you couldn't understand what any of them were saying.

My friend Matt and I hiked all the way to the library on main campus. In the sun. It was 86 degrees. It was hot. It is November. Anyway, critique of the website is today and we'll see how it goes.

Tuesday, November 11, 2003

You know, I came in here early because I wanted to update this, and I have no idea what I was going to say. That's very annoying. And I think it was a good story, too. Grrr.

So I signed up for National Novel Writing Month. The goal (as if the people who read this don't know already) is to write 50,000 words in the month of November. I succumbed to peer pressure, and I'm currently over 13,000 words. But lots of us are writing and it'll be fun to read them all. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how Cinque Rocked My World.

At Sunday School last week, I was talking to one my students, Rachel, after class. She told me that her mom was cooking dinner. She said "We have this food at our house? And it's called fish." Like I didn't know what fish was. It was very cute.

In watercolor, we drew glass bottles in various styles. Mine was realism, but another's girls was abstract with bottle overlapping and such. One of them had the neck of one bottle going through a circular shape. She put it up for critique and Beau said "Ahh! Sex!" We all started laughing, and Mrs. Murray, who wasn't paying attention, was like, "Huh?" So Beau had to talk about the "phallic symbolism" in front of the whole class. It was the highlight of the day.
